Hi-5!

Hello internet people!

Do you know the cartoon on Nickelodeon called Hi-5?

Well, my country, the philippines will have a local show and guess who got into an audition….

ME:)

And I passed the first stage.

My callback is tomorrow and I am excited and nervous and panicky! *Breathes* I CAN DO THIS!!

Anyway, I just want to leave you guys a quote from my Idol, Sierra Boggess.

“What people think of you is none of your business!”

This quote helped me pass the first round. I just did my best and left the rest to fate.

If the judges liked me, cool! If not, then whatever:)

The world will give you countless opportunities. I didn’t expect to get a call back and I almost chickened out of the audition but I’m glad I didn’t. Be open to what life offers you. You never know…

Wish me luck(like’break a leg’ wishing someone luck in theater is badluck[or so they say]}

Til’ next time!

Zenfone 5 unboxing and review of sorts.

People!
good day:)
If you noticed in my moni haul..well it was more like a micro haul…I really went for the cheap side.

There was a reason for that.
I needed a new phone and I am a broke college freshman.

I looked around for some pretty good budget smartphones that are worth buying and finally decided on the ASUS ZENFONE 5.

I got the black one.

Jpeg

ASUS ZenFone 5 (A501CG) specs
1.6GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560
2GB RAM
5-inch HD IPS display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection, 1280 x 720 resolution
16GB storage, expandable via microSD
8-megapixel f/2.0 PixelMaster Camera
2-megapixel front camera
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS
Dual-SIM
3G, HSPA+
2110mAh, non-removable polymer battery
Android 4.3 ( will update to 4.4 KitKat ) with ASUS ZenUI
Php 6995

I bought it with my own money so I now consider my zenny my baby.Yup.

It came with these:Jpeg
USB cable. AC Adaptor. In ear earphones with extra buds in two sizes. ASUS user manual and warranty card.

(Not my photo.)

I got my zenny a Matte screen protector as well as a baby blue jelly flip case. Php 150 and 320 respectively.

For the specs that is offered on the Zen5. This is a really good deal.

The only downside so far, in my opinion, is the speaker’s sound. It is lower than what I would have liked, but decent.

Other people would complain about the battery.
I think it is pretty average. I’m far from techy but I can assure any potential buyers that the battery doesn’t drain dramatically fast as others claim. It depends on usage. For light to moderate use, it’ll last you a day or so. For heavy use, I lasted up to 4-5 hours at best.

No other problems as far as I can tell.
I cant wait to play around it more and finally get it to feel more ‘mine’ you know?

To be honest, it is what I am using to type right now:) Smooth and promising.

Before you do decide to buy this phone, I just want you to know that ASUS has announced that the zen2 would be out in the US by march this uear.
You may want to wait for that.
It has better specs like 4gb ram and lte capabilities. It will naturally be pricier.

It is around $199 dollars. That is equivalent to php 8000 VAT not included.

I would have just waited to buy that phone onced released but again I am broke and well I am quite content with the specs on my zenny.

I highly recommend this phone.
ASUS so far is reliable on the updates. This was jelly bean out of the box but I got it updatedto KitKat. It was also recently confirmed that this will get an update for Android 5.0 Lollipop soon.

Mini haul 1: school stuff

Internet peeps!!!

How’s it going?

The second semester has started so…I have been hella busy.

Anyway…I went to a local bazaar mall. And on a strange impulse, I bought some stuff.

Hopefully I can convince you guys along with myself that this was worth it.

I do love buying school stuff but my love for school…is debatable at best.

Moving on to what I got:)JpegJpegSo…yup. Just a few stuff.

I really needed some index cards. The bigger ones were only php 27. The smaller was php 8. Oddly the Green Apple brand is cheaper than the Corona brand. Personally I prefer Green Apple’s quality.
I am so happy it’s sooo cheap. I constantly need these cards for studying and writing down homework reminders.

I got the Elmer’s glue stick for php 27 as well. The wipe-out tape/correction tape was php 15. I got the princess Aurora one because it is pink and Im an 8 year old in a teen’s body and honestly it was cheaper and I’m all for saving money when I can help it.

I got two generic brand sticky notes for php 10 each and the pens were php 6 each. If you add that all up, I just spent like, less than $3. Amazing.

That’s technically it with the school supplies.

I got this though,Jpeg

For PE. We will start playing volleyball. Our coach is not strict with what we wear with our uniform as long as we wear our uniform properly.

Our court is outdoors so we would be spending 2 hours exposed to the burning sun.

These arm socks (I just call them that) seem like a good something to invest in. For only php 30…well, I got it for php 25 after sweet talking the sales lady and asking for a “tawad” or a lesser price for the item.

Lastly I got my little brother a black beanoe as a really late christmas gift. I got one for myself as well. It didn’t cost me to 400 for both.

Overall I am highly satisfied with my purchases. Yes I bought these stuff on impulse more or less..
At least I am investing on my education and not just throwing away money how little it is. Every cent counts.

Thanks for reading. Have a great day!

Percy Jackson Fanfiction: Big Blue Cookie

People of the internet!

If you read my About me page, you’ll see Percy J. on the top of my book list.

I am an author in fanfiction.net and have written several stories and one shots.

This is one of the one shots.

Information:

“Someone’s a cookie thief. Cute little Percabeth One-Shot.”

Rated: Fiction K+ – English – Crime/Humor/Fluff – Annabeth C., Percy J.

Disclaimer: I do not own the Percy Jackson series nor do I own the characters.

Now, may I present “BIG BLUE COOKIE”

ENJOY!!!

I was sitting crossed leg on Percy’s bed, A math book on my lap.

I’m staying over Percy’s for the weekend.

Sally and Paul went for a short cruise and Percy had no company, So I Agreed.

Percy just got me from school and I instantly went to his room to do some homework.

“Annabeth have you seen my big blue cookie?” Percy asked from the kitchen.

uh-oh.

“No Seaweed Brain. I did not see your big blue cookie.” I lied.

Okay, maybe not instantly.

I was hungry, okay? Sally made the best cookies and I just couldn’t resist.

Especially since she wasn’t here to bake some more; And I wasn’t the best cook, Though I was better than Percy, of course.

He came in the room.

“It couldn’t have just disappeared. We’re the only people in the apartment anyways.” He said.

When did he start to make so much sense?

I just continued on my math homework, Ignoring him.

“Annie…” He glared at me, although playfully.

There was a bit of a warning in his tone.

I looked up at him with an irritated expression.

“I didn’t take your cookie.” I said.

“I didn’t say you did.” He said, a bit smug as to counter me.

“You were implying it.” I told him stubbornly.

He gave me his deluxe death glare.

It took a lot of my willpower not to flinch. Percy didn’t know what that one glare could do.

He narrowed his eyes at me.

Great.

If I look away, I’d seem guilty. But if he keeps staring at me straight in the eyes, He’d know I was lying.

“Percy, can I please finish my homework now?” I asked him with a fake annoyed voice.

I knew I was already busted though. He had that triumphant glint in his eyes.

“Somebody stole my cookie from my cookie jar. I think Annie stole my cookie from my cookie jar.” He sang that blasted nursery rhyme.

I played along.

I pretended to look surprise.

“Who me?” I asked in a sing song voice.

“Yes you.” He said taking a step towards me.

“Not I.” I said weakly.

He stood in front of me with a smirk.

He leaned forward.

“Then who?” He asked in a whisper on my ear.

It sent a chill down my spine.

He then stared at me straight on again.

Stupid Seaweed Brain with those- those eyes…

He tilted my chin up a bit to let my lips meet his. I closed my eyes giving in to his trap.

He pulled away too quickly for my liking.

I pouted at him.

“That was your punishment for lying.” He said with a playful smirk.

“How can you be so sure that I did or did not lie?” I asked him persistent until the end.

Though I didn’t deny the fact that I did not or did lie.

“Your lips tasted just like mom’s blue cookies.” He told me nonchalantly.

I just stared at him with wide eyes.

That Seaweed Brain actually out smarted me.

“Oh By the way, Wise Girl. You owe me a big blue cookie.”

~Fin~

There you go! ^_^

If you watch the video from the link you’ll see everything that has to do with the file folder as well as what comes within it.

It already has a lot of organizers inside. You don’t have to buy separate envelopes and folders.

For a price of Php 835 ($18.8), I think it’s pretty okay.

I got mine in pink and I love it! ‚̧

This thing is basically all I need for everything.

If you don’t already know, I am a freshman Literature Major. ūüôā

That field of study requires great organization skills because this course basically means PAPERS. papers papers papers day and night PAPERS!

Last semester, I had a bit of trouble in organizing my stuff and I had an accordion file case,

and It was great in keeping my homework, readings and other whatevers in order; but, it also contributed a lot to the weight on my back. I commute going to and from school so carrying a heavy backpack puts strain on my back therefor giving me neck and back pain.

Not fun.

I also had a tiny binder full of fillers for my notes as well as separate folders to put my quizzes and exam papers in. My backpack was always full!

I wanted a single thing to put everything in and I didn’t want to carry that much¬†this coming semester.

Soooo I thought of just buying the dang FILED: File Folder. /^.^/

Being binder, folder, file keeper and bag-ish thingy…in one really is the best thing to get.

I ditched my filler notebooks and just went for one BIG notebook to fit in my binder. My important papers like my registration form and schedule is placed in the envelope filler. I’ll be slipping in my syllabus there. I also added some index cards in the pockets at the left and placed one pencil, two pens, an eraser and a highlighter in the detachable mesh pencil case.

In the 3 slot envelope, I plan to put my homework there.

The front slot will be labeled “IN” as in the incoming homework that I have to do and the back will be “OUT”, the already done homework.

In my big notebook will be my notes from all my nine classes while the filler paper inside the binder will be for like revisions of my notes to be used for review. I’ll just divide the notebook into nine portions.

In college, you don’t really need to write down every single thing your instructor says. You would just end us wasting the paper in the back of your notebooks.

I had a subject wherein I only wrote like, in three pages for the whole term. :-/

I just end up ripping out the notes and using the paper for my drawings, doodles and short stories, songs, poems or whatever at the end of the term. :3

Basically, all I’ll carry in my backpack is the File folder, my planner, my big notebook, my emergency kit and wallet. Oh! Maybe a pad of yellow paper too.

As opposed to carrying a binder notebook full of fillers, nine folders, an accordion file, my pencil case, planner, plastic envelope, emergency kit, wallet and pad papers; I clearly will carry less and now my stuff is like, compact.

It’s also a plus that this file folder is waterproof because my school is soooo flood prone. A lot of stuff was ruined when I was using this bag that I thought was waterproof but wasn’t. Everything got wet! ūüė¶

Definitely a plus.

(By the way, I’m sorry that I can’t put up my own photos to help you visualize what I’m saying, I feel like I’m really not all to clear. I’ll try my best. I don’t have a camera and the one on my phone is crappy. ūüė¶ I’ll be getting a new phone around the 20th of January or so and I’ll start posting my own pics then. ūüôā )

If you can’t get your hands in one of this FILED: file folders, I really recommend you to just buy a big binder as well as the separate stuff similar to what’s inside on my file folder. It really will help to have it all in one place. It also minimizes space in your school bag and it’s cute, handy and my favorite, waterproof!!! ūüėÄ

Book Review: Between the Lines

Between the Lines

by Jodi Picoult and Samantha van Leer
Delilah, a loner hates school as much as she loves books‚ÄĒ one book in particular. In fact if anyone knew how many times she has read and reread the sweet little fairy tale she found in the library, especially her cooler than cool classmates, she‚Äôd be sent to social Siberia forever. To Delilah, though, this fairy tale is more than just words on the page. Sure, there‚Äôs a handsome (well, okay, incredibly handsome) prince, and a castle, and an evil villain, but it feels as if there‚Äôs something deeper going on. And one day, Delilah finds out there is. Turns out, this Prince Charming is not just a one-dimensional character in a book. He‚Äôs real, and a certain fifteen-year-old loner has caught his eye. But they‚Äôre from two different worlds, and how can it ever possibly work?

WARNING: This review may contain SPOILERS

Let me start off saying that I really like this book.
I’ve always asked myself “what would it be like if the fictional character from a book falls in love with it’s reader?” I’ve looked around and Google searched until I came across this book.
¬† ¬†At first, I thought that this book would be like the Character falling in love with me (the reader), Because that would be totally awesome! I don’t know how that could be pulled off…perhaps in an interactive novel or e-book it is possible but it intrigued me on how this could be possible on paperback. I know it is possible but really, how?
You can imagine my disappointment when I found out that I was reading about a reader, reading about a character who wants to get out of his story and inadvertently falls in love with the reader whilst the said reader was helping the said character escape said story. I hope that made sense.

Although, I like this book I also want to point out that I love to hate this book as much as I love to Love it. I have this inner battle with myself on whether or not I should praise, cry over or just downright hate this book. I was on an emotional roller coaster.

We have a lot to tackle here.

¬† ¬†Delilah. She has never felt like she belonged to the real world. She’s an outcast with only Jules, punk/emo as a best friend and her mom. That’s isn’t bad but She never grew up with a dad and her school life is miserable. In such a situation it isn’t so surprising that she turns to her books and clings to them desperately. This is the only place where she gets her HEA (Happily Ever After). But that’s not where the crazy starts.

Let me give you a series of questions,
¬†What if the characters in your stories don’t end after you close the book? What if the character are like actors on a stage and closing the book is just like closing the curtain after the show? What if the characters go about their business in the world written for them? What do you think would happen? And finally, what if¬†one of those characters doesn’t want to live in the story he was written in, but wants to be real? Be able to feel and think and really live!
This is the story of Delilah McPhee and fairy tale Prince Oliver. Oliver wants to escape his story and he calls out for Delilah to help him. This concept is awesomesauce!

     Fun. Sweet. And very crazy!

¬† ¬† ¬†I totally lost myself in this world. I couldn’t put the darn book down.
This book was chalked filled with creativity! The imagination is insanely vivid.
You will find yourself absorbed with magic and love within the pages of this wonderful story. this is the book for fans who crave a happily ever after.
¬† ¬†This book is told in both Delilah and Oliver’s point of view¬†as well as¬†the actual fairy tale that Prince Oliver belongs to. It was to say, a story within a story. I know. sounds confusing. Well, I was pretty overwhelmed at first but it became¬†easier to follow and understand what¬†was going on after a while.
¬† ¬†Every character created in the fairy tale was very detailed and well developed. They each had unique role and I was fascinated by how different they were inside and outside the story. Delilah was precious. I related with¬†her at once¬†and I admire¬†her passion and dedication. I saw myself in her. I love how despite knowing that¬†books aren’t real she still liked to think and wonder what would it be like if they were. Delilah represented readers like me who still find pleasure and harmless fun¬†in make-believe, imagination, in magic and my favorite, true love. Even if it’s a character from a story come to life. *sigh* Sweet. I don’t know about you but I know how many fictional boyfriends I have!

¬† ¬† ¬†Let’s move over to Oliver for a second.

¬† ¬† ¬† ¬†He was just so adorable and I couldn’t help but fall for him a little (I’m weak I’m sorry!)! I loved the way that these two fell for one another. They had to understand the other in order to understand why the other wanted what they wanted. Oliver wanted reality while, Delilah wanted Fiction. This baffled both of them. Their relationship just blossoms and it’s cute and sweet and tender with just the right amount of fluff.
¬† ¬†I just had a slight problem at the end. Here’s where the love to hate comes in. The ending left me with a WTF reaction. It wasn’t exactly terrible. It’s just that the characters spend a good second half of the book trying to find a way to get Oliver out of the book, and when they do it’s incredibly anticlimactic and sudden. It felt too fast and rushed- as if the writer decided to end it as soon as possible. But that’s not even the real problem I have with the ending.

In the book, there was this emphasis on the importance of family.

¬† ¬† ¬†Oliver’s father is killed by the dragon and his mother is so protective she insists that he doesn’t fight, Delilah’s father left her when she was a child, Delilah’s mother is constantly worried about her. The whole¬†reason why Delilah was even¬†drawn to the book in the first place is because she and Oliver both don’t have fathers. Keeping this in mind you can now understand why the¬†ending was so unexpected and kind of inconsistent.
¬† ¬†Toward the end of the book we meet the writer of the fairy tale, Jessamyn. Her¬†son Edgar is identical to Oliver. I won’t go into anymore details and just put it out there. In a magical way in which not enough explanation was given, Oliver and Edgar switch places. Edgar is placed into the story and Oliver is expected to act as Jessamyn’s new son. Happy Ever After!

     My reaction was like:

WHAT?!!!!!

(Warning: Rant ahead)

That’s that’s clever and witty and this makes everyone happy but it is also very WRONG!
¬† ¬† ¬†I don’t want it to be because I love how Oliver and Delilah works out. I just…What about Edgar????
Despite Edgar not being the best son for Jessamyn, that does not change the fact that JESSAMYN’S SON IS EDGAR!!! Jessamyn very much¬†loves Edgar. Edgar volunteered to be in a fairy tale, I get that but keeping him away from his loving mother lessened the happy in a ‘happy ending’.

¬† ¬† ¬†After the book presented¬†this consistent theme of family we are shown that it was perfectly¬†alright for a mother and son to be separated forever. Said mother¬†is completely unaware of this at the end of the story. she¬†had¬†no say in her son’s fate. She wasn’t given a chance!

(RANT OVER!)

I know this may not everyone’s cup of tea. I’ll admit, even if it was¬†far fetched, I really enjoyed this story for what it was. It made me fantasize what it would be like to fall in love and have a HEA¬†with a character written in one of my favorite stories. (Percy Jackson and Daniel Grigori please!).¬†This stuff is what makes readers read. If the story can take you away from your reality and pull you in to a new world full of possibilities, It’s good. Despite the ending, I truly enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the ride and I can’t wait for the sequel! I want to see more Delilah and Oliver as well as Edgar and¬†Jessamyn closure.

I recommend this. I do.¬†Between the Lines will have you guessing to the very end and devouring each page at great speed. It’s a page turner and mind blower(is that legit?). A perfect escape from reality.
Overall 8/10
